UNDER 12 GAME SWITCHED FROM 2.00PM TO 12 NOON TODAY
Tipperary Invasion of Coachford this weekend.
Two Tipperary soccer teams take the long road to Coachford this weekend to play the local club in different cup competitions. On Saturday the Under 12s play Templemore athletic in the National Cup at 2.00pm and the following day at 2.30pm Coachford play Cullen Lattin in the 4 round of the Munster Junior Cup. Chairman Thady Delaney said “ This is a huge weekend for the club and both teams have done very well to get to this stage of both competitions. The U12 Coachford/Killarnardrish team have been playing very exciting football all year and scoring a lot of goals but this weekend’s game will be very tough for them as the Tipperary Champions are a very well balanced side. It will be an exciting contest and we are all hoping that our boys will advance. The Premier team are in good shape but have been suffering from a lack of games due to recent games being postponed because of the wet weather but we are hoping home advantage should even things up a bit.” A large crowd is expected at both games in Coachford this weekend.

COACHFORD ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION: Are you retired or even semi-retired and over 50? We have no upper age limits and are open to both men and women members. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of every month. Activities include the following:
Bowling: Short-mat bowling on Monday mornings at 10.30 a.m. and on Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. These games last approximately 2 hours, and take place in the G.A.A. Hall in Coachford.
Computer Classes: These take place every Wednesday, at 11.45 a.m., in Coachford College, and are on a one-to-one basis with Transition Year students. The classes, which last less than an hour, are extremely well attended and can cater for every level. So, even if you don't know how to switch on a computer, this is the class for you.
Gym: We attend Gym exercises in Macroom Leisure Centre on Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. So, if you want to shed some avoirdupois, with others in the same situation as yourself, then come along and have some fun.
Aqua Aerobics: These classes will start in Macroom in February. This is a very relaxing way of keeping fit and toning up, and you don't even have to know how to swim! Walking: Thursday mornings - meet outside G.A.A. Hall at 10.30 a.m. We usually walk for about an hour, at a leisurely pace, so there's no pressure. Sometimes we can be very daring and treat ourselves to a cuppa afterwards!

Murder at Shandy Hall – The Coachford Poisoning Case A new book on the Shandy Hall murder case has been published. The book is available from most bookshops.
Cork, May 1887. Murder stalks the countryside.Against a tranquil rural backdrop – the sleepy County Cork village of Dripsey near Coachford – a sensational Victorian murder is played out with a potent mix of love, lust, betrayal, and ultimately naked hatred. The entry of a young and beautiful governess into Shandy Hall, the home of a retired British Army surgeon Dr Philip Cross, acts as a catalyst for an act of horror that prompts suspicion, an exhumation, an inquest, and a charged courtroom drama that grabs newspaper headlines all over the world. The nation is transfixed by details of a murder which shatters the Victorian ideal of the home as a safe haven of privacy and comfort, and besmirches the blue-blooded reputation of an aristocratic line. The cast of real characters includes a cruel killer, cloaked in respectability; a beautiful and naïve governess; a blameless wife; a brilliant young pathologist; a canny and clever murder detective; two accomplished courtroom adversaries; a caring and emotional judge; and a notorious hangman.
